Civil Litigation & Dispute ResolutionIsabelle Briand is an avocate and mediator who has practised criminal and penal law for more than 30 years, appearing before every level of court in Quebec, both prosecuting and defending. From 2011 to 2015 she supervised the team of prosecutors at the Bureau de lutte à la corruption et à la malversation (anti-corruption bureau) and helped run that office's steering committee. She has taught at the École du Barreau since 2006 and has led plea-advocacy seminars for the Barreau du Québec since 2017, focusing on criminal law, ethics and professional conduct. She holds a graduate diploma in dispute prevention and resolution and became the first independent avocate in Quebec accredited by Équijustice to practise mediation in criminal contexts. She currently sits on the Barreau du Québec's professional training committee and is a member of the Institut de médiation et d'arbitrage du Québec.
