About Ellen Nagy

Ellen Nagy is an associate with the Tax Law Group at McKenzie Lake in London, Ontario, helping clients on a wide variety of tax questions. Tax was already on Nagy's radar in law school, where Nagy co-chaired the Western Tax Law Association. With every client, Nagy aims for advice that's thorough and practical, and treats integrity and precision as the guideposts for that work.

Raised in Tillsonburg, Nagy now gives time as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area. Mentoring isn't new: at Western Law, Nagy did the same for students arriving for first year, and also co-chaired the Gender and the Law Association. In the final year, Nagy received the Diana Majury-Cheryl Waldrum Award, which is given annually to a student in a course on gender or discrimination who contributes significantly to the class.

Nagy's path at McKenzie Lake started with a summer position, continued through articling, and led to an associate role in September 2026, a few months after the June 2026 call to the Ontario bar. The JD from Western came in 2025, following studies in English and history at Queen's and a master's in history, also at Western.

Away from the office, there's usually a fresh find from the library on the go, or a pickleball game with friends and family.
