Denis Gobeil

About Denis

Denis Gobeil has practiced law for more than 45 years, focusing exclusively on family law matters such as divorce, spousal and child support, separation, division of family property, and custody and access disputes. He graduated in law from Université Laval in 1979 and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1980, opening his own practice that same year. He was later a partner with Colette Duford, who went on to become a judge of the Court of Québec's youth division, and subsequently with Martin Lapierre under the name Gobeil & Lapierre. Starting in 2015 the firm grew to include several more lawyers and became, for close to a decade, one of the larger family and youth law practices in Lévis. Gobeil has been an accredited family mediator since 2000 and, since 2021, has focused entirely on family mediation while a team of lawyers handles litigation files. He served on the Barreau du Québec's provincial family law committee from 2010 to 2016 and has held leadership roles with the Association des familialistes de Québec. He has also volunteered for more than 31 years with Atelier Occupationnel Rive-Sud, an organization serving people with intellectual disabilities, and has served on its board.
