D. Peter Best practised law in the Sudbury and Espanola area for more than four decades before retiring in October 2023. Born in 1948 and raised in Espanola, he earned his B.A. from the University of Toronto in 1970 and graduated from the University of Western Ontario Law School in 1973. He articled with Fraser & Beatty in Toronto and was called to the bar on March 21, 1975. He worked at Hinds, Trainor & Sinclair in Sudbury before practising as a sole practitioner and partner at Best & Desotti from 1977 to 1997, then as a partner at Desmarais, Keenan from 1997 to 2000. From 2000 he again practised as a sole practitioner in a shared space agreement, before joining his daughter Amy's firm, Amy P. Best Professional Corporation, in 2016.
