About Brian

Brian Lai is a Barrister and Solicitor at Immanuel Law Professional Corporation in Kingston. He holds a Doctorate of Laws (LL.D.) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Ottawa, along with further LL.M. degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a corporate governance researcher who has formulated policy recommendations based on empirical studies, law, and regulations, and before practising law in Kingston he worked as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC). Originally from Taiwan, he is fluent in Mandarin and Hokkien Chinese, and sits on the boards of the Kingston Community Legal Clinic and the Kingston Chinese Alliance Church.
