About AF Law

AF Law is a sole-practitioner criminal defence firm run by Alexis Falk, a barrister and solicitor based in Abbotsford, BC. The practice focuses solely on criminal defence, handling both federal and provincial matters, including drug offences, fisheries offences, assault, robbery, theft, fraud, and breach charges.

Falk grew up in Manitoba, travelled through Europe after high school, and then completed a Bachelor of Arts with a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, studying first in Manitoba and then at UBC Okanagan in British Columbia. During those years, Falk also ran a photography business in Winnipeg from 1995 to 2008. Falk went on to Belfast, Northern Ireland, to complete a Master of Laws, co-authoring a paper with other graduate students on the methods local restorative justice practitioners used to build community support and healing. After returning to Canada, Falk articled with Darrel Schultz and Peter McDermick and was called to the bar in August 2013.

Falk continued working with Schultz and McDermick before entering into partnership with McDermick in January 2018, and later became a sole practitioner. That year, Falk also took on Fraser Valley legal community roles, serving as Regional Director for the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers, President of the Fraser Valley Criminal Bar Association, and Regional Director for the Criminal Defense Advocacy Society.
