Burger Smith & Urdahl is a full-service law firm and notary practice at 505 5th Street in Courtenay, on Vancouver Island. The firm's own site says it has served the Comox Valley for nearly five decades under this name and others that came before it. Mark Burger, one of the firm's namesakes, has practiced law since 1997 and now holds the title of partner, retired. Partners Hans Urdahl and Ashley Smith, both also namesakes, carry the practice forward today alongside associates and legal counsel.

The firm splits its work between solicitor and notary services and litigation. On the solicitor side, lawyers handle wills, powers of attorney, estate planning, real estate transactions, incorporation and reorganization of small businesses, and joint ventures and shareholders' agreements. On the litigation side, the team takes on family law, estate litigation, civil disputes, personal injury claims including ICBC claims, property disputes, and criminal defence. That range means a client can bring a will, a house purchase, and a family law matter to the same Courtenay office instead of several.
