About Allen & Hoffman Lawyers

Allen & Hoffman Lawyers is a two-lawyer partnership in Smithers, British Columbia, run by Danielle Allen and Martin Hoffman. The pair founded the firm in Victoria in 2018 and later moved the practice to Smithers, in the Bulkley Valley, to raise a family and be closer to the region's hiking trails and waterways. The firm practices family law, covering divorce, separation, parenting arrangements, division of family property, cohabitation agreements, child and spousal support, and adoption, and it also takes on judicial reviews of administrative decisions.

Danielle Allen practiced law in Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria before settling in Smithers, starting a career in the public sector as Tribunal counsel before moving into private practice in labour, employment, administrative and family law. Allen holds a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Master of Laws from the University of Victoria, and has been admitted to the bar in Ontario (no longer active), New York and British Columbia. Martin Hoffman began a legal career in Vancouver at the Law Society of British Columbia, the provincial regulator for lawyers, and has since practiced in family law, employment, administrative law and professional regulation. Hoffman holds a law degree and a master's in history, both from the University of Victoria.
