About Element Law

Element Law is a small law firm in Toronto. Its office is inside Dominion Square, a converted heritage building at 468 Queen Street East on the eastern edge of downtown. The Davies family started a brewery on the site in 1879, and the site was renovated in 1987 into the mix of stores, condos, and office space it holds today, according to the City of Toronto's Old Town Toronto guide. Element Law's own LinkedIn profile lists its practice as corporate and commercial law, entertainment law, real estate law, and trademarks, with a founding year of 2018 and a staff of two to ten people. The firm's tagline plays on its own name: it's 'an essential ELEMENT of your business' across those four areas.

The neighbourhood

Element Law's office sits inside Dominion Square, a heritage building at 468 Queen Street East. The City of Toronto's Old Town Toronto guide says the Davies family started a brewery on the site in 1879 and built the Dominion Hotel at the east end of the property, on Sumach Street. The site was renovated in 1987 into the mix of stores, condos, and office space it holds today.

The building sits in Corktown, a nineteenth century neighbourhood where King and Queen Streets are still the two main streets. The same guide says the area was originally settled by working class immigrants in the early 1800s, many from County Cork in Ireland, who found work in the local breweries and distilleries.
