About Michael
Michael J. Semple is a retired lawyer who was called to the Ontario Bar on April 9, 1981, after graduating with honours from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1979 and articling in Hamilton, Ontario. He ran a general practice for many years, focusing on civil litigation and family law, and also handled wills and estates matters. He started his own firm in Toronto in 1982, later partnering with law school classmate Charles Jones to form Semple, Jones in 1990. After a period working in information technology, he established a law office in the Peterborough area in 2003 and practised primarily in the Peterborough, Cobourg, and Lindsay courts. He is a past president of the Peterborough Law Association.
